FAQs for Building a Table

What does it mean to “build a table”?

Building a table means bringing together friends, colleagues, family members, or community members to attend the dinner together in support of SAAJCO’s mission.

Do I have to pay for the whole table myself?

No. A host can sponsor the full table themselves, or invite friends, colleagues, or community members to contribute toward seats together.

Who should I invite?

Anyone who cares about civil rights, immigrant communities, democracy, community building, or the future of South Asian civic life. A table can include a mix of friends, colleagues,  business associates, organizers, founders, professionals, artists, advocates, and community leaders.

I’m not a fundraiser. Can I still build a table?

Absolutely. Building a table is really about gathering people who care about community and introducing them to SAAJCO’s work.

What if I don’t know how to invite people?

We created Table Captain Cards with conversation starters, outreach ideas, South Asian community facts, and talking points about why SAAJCO matters. You can also contact us directly for help: donate@saajco.org. 

Can I co-host a table with someone else?

Yes. Tables can be are organized collaboratively by friends, colleagues, affinity groups, or community partners.

Every table helps expand the network of people investing in long-term South Asian civil rights, legal advocacy, and community power.

What kinds of people will attend the dinner?

The evening aims to bring together community leaders, attorneys, organizers, business and technology professionals, advocates, philanthropists, artists, and supporters invested in justice and belonging.
